Taco Meat Seasoning Revisited

Since today is National Taco Day, I thought I’d bring back an older recipe that I posted almost two years ago. As we have lots of busy days on our agenda with revamping the kitchen, watching that stupid storm Karen in the gulf  in case we have to hunker down and all the other day-to-day chores! So with all that great stuff going on, bear with me in case I miss a day here and there! Tacos are one of Kenny and I’s favorites and we enjoy them quite often! I absolutely love the taco shell baking dishes I bought which save a lot of money compared to buying taco shells already to heat and eat as I like my shells crunchy! This recipe for making your own spice mix for your tacos also saves a lot of money in comparison to buying prepackaged taco meat spice mix and as I said, they’re probably spices you already have in your spice cabinet.

Taco Meat Seasoning Revisited
  • For one pound of hamburger:
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 teas salt
  • ½ teas dried minced onion
  • ½ teas paprika
  • ¼ teas onion powder
  • Dash of garlic
  • ¼ teas cumin
  1. Drain cooked hamburger of any fat; combine all ingredients and sprinkle over meat, adding about ¼ cup of water.
  2. Mix well and simmer until meat has absorbed all the liquid.

I don’t know where I got this recipe, but I have been using it for over 25 years! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Don’t forget to have a nice cold brew with your tacos, maybe a Corona?
