Redecorating Terror Continues
Well, it’s been some time since I’ve been gone and instead of being MIA this time, I was a POW. Now by that I mean, a Prisoner of WORK!
You see, husband decided that after doing the counter tops, it was time to rip out all the carpet in our dining room and living room (all 600 square feet of it), as it has been too damn hot to work outside and even too wet with all the rain again this summer! He had been wanting to do this almost since we bought the trailer and with living in the country with lots of sand tracked in, it was overdue to say the least! My task was to do the demolition of the carpet, with very little help from the mastermind behind this scheme, and it took this old body a little while to complete my chore! Under some of the old carpet was the original vinyl (YUCK) that had been stapled and stapled and stapled………….. Although some of the staples could be hammered into the floor, a lot of them had to be pulled out because they were rusty. What a pain, literally!
Now, I do have to say that, while I was cutting and removing the carpet (had to do it in small sections as it was so heavy from the sand buried into it), Kenny was repainting the ceilings, then the dining room walls and then started laying the planking behind me. In all reality, the prep work took much longer than the laying of the planks. We used the Allure Flooring and was by far the easiest of anything we had ever used! By the time the day was done, it was quick easy meals of lots of burgers, eggs and sandwiches with no time to do any experimenting in my kitchen!
I was so happy to hear the words, NO MORE major projects until after the holidays, I almost, well you know what in my pants! Of course, it was well worth the effort when we look at what we’ve accomplished together and knowing that that old carpet will not be haunting us any more except for the back pain I seemed to acquire shortly afterwards, another reason I have not been here playing on the computer!
I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day Weekend and we did manage to make some awesome baby back ribs that I will be sharing with you this week along with a couple of animal stories that we experienced in the last few weeks here in the boondocks…… I also have a baby shower to attend this weekend for our 2nd great-grandson Atticus and hopefully, I will be making something new in the food line to take with me!
(Note from Kenny)The Allure Flooring was easy to lay down, but, beware of the finish of your floor. It has to be perfectly clean and perfectly level. If not it will show little knots and have a hard time gluing down properly. Of course this is my opinion only. Thanks Ken
