Arby’s Grand Turkey Club Sandwich

arbyslogoAs most of you know, we live out in the woods and go to town maybe once a week. So, yesterday we decided to go shopping in the big city and believe you me, it can wear you out! Pushing and shoving like there’s not going to be anything left on the shelves; we tried to beat the Labor Day grocery shoppers, NOT. But, it seem’s funny to me as I look around at all the food and think to myself, I couldn’t eat all this food in my life time and we have so many people starving in our world today…

Anyway, on the way back home, we decided to stop by Arby’s and try out their new Arby’s Grand Turkey Ham Club sandwich, since it’s there for a limited time only. No, we did not go inside to eat because, we were so dang tired from shopping, we grabbed it and ran.

You know you want a bite!

It was around 3pm when we were sorting and putting away the groceries, we both started taking bites out of this huge sandwich. People, it only took one sandwich to fill us up, as we are light eaters. You won’t believe what is on this tasty sandwich, between the fresh harvest wheat bun, you have stacks of freshly sliced turkey, ham, melted swiss cheese, pepper bacon, leaf lettuce, tomato, and mayo. My taste buds were going into over drive. It was awesome and can’t wait to go back to town to get another one before they stop the promotion! Who knows, maybe if it goes over as big as we think it will, they will keep it on their menu permanently!

Our next big trip to town I am going to try the Arby’s Grand Turkey Club sandwich. I might just go inside so I can relax and enjoy it. It also has the soft and tasty wheat bun and is packed high with fresh turkey, pepper bacon, leaf lettuce, swiss cheese, tomato and mayo. I’m thinking, maybe I won’t get so full if I leave off the ham. Probably not!

All I can say my friend, if your going to town shopping for hours and you get hungry, Find an Arby’s in your town Arby’s and try out the Grand Turkey Ham Club or the Grand Turkey Club sandwich. It’s not your ordinary turkey sandwich and the combination of the flavors are absolutely taste-bud tingling.  I assure you that you will not leave hungry or disappointed!

Corn And Carrot Salad

It’s almost time to celebrate Independence Day, one of the biggest BBQ holidays of the year and it’s time to start thinking about what will be on our menus for this great festivity. Our son-in-law wanted us to come up this year, but that kind of trip takes a little planning and if we were to go anywhere, I want to get away from the heat and they are running just about as hot in Indiana as we are here! Hopefully next year will be a little more convenient for us to go. Thought about this dish as corn is plentiful at this time of year and we just picked the few measly little ears that our garden had to offer. Corn just doesn’t like to grow for us here with this soil and plan on going a whole different route for our next garden. This recipe originally called for canned corn but I like to use fresh corn instead.

Just picked this morning!

Just picked this morning! One of them had three ears!

Corn And Carrot Salad
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp horseradish mustard
  • 2 teas vinegar
  • 1 teas sugar
  • ¼ teas salt
  • ⅛ teas fresh ground pepper
  • ½ cup chopped sweet onion
  • 1 jar (2 oz) chopped pimento, drained
  • 1 can (16 oz) sweet whole corn, drained (I use about 1-1/2 cups of fresh cooked corn, cut off the cob)
  • 2 medium carrots grated medium
  1. Combine the sour cream with the next 6 ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and toss to coat.
  3. Refrigerate over night to meld flavors.

Can’t wait for next week………….enjoy!
