Mint Julep Iced Tea

Since we’re still in the month of June and this is iced tea month, try this one when you’re sitting outside on a hot summer’s night gazing up at the stars. Just don’t drink too many as you might see stars when you wake up in the morning!

 

3 cups boiling water
6 tea bags
1 tbsp mint jelly
Lime juice
Sugar
2 cans (12 oz each) ginger ale, chilled
6 oz bourbon (or more if you’re like me!), chilled
Fresh mint leaves

 

Pour boiling water over tea bags and let steep for 5 minutes. Remove bags and pour hot tea over the mint jelly, stirring to dissolve.

Cover and refrigerate.

When ready to serve, dip rim of glass into the lime juice and then into sugar to frost.

Fill glasses half full of tea; add one ounce of bourbon and crushed ice. Fill with ginger ale to the frost line and garnish with fresh mint!

Also a nice way to top off the Fourth of July BBQ if you haven’t been partying all day, that is!

Sparkling Ice Tea

As I have mentioned this month is the month to honor iced tea and here’s another way to add some zing…….

 

8 small tea bags
3 quarts boiling water
1/2 cup sugar
1 can (12 oz) frozen lemonade, thawed
1 liter bottle of ginger ale

 

Add tea bags to boiling water and steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags, squeezing gently. Stir in the sugar and lemonade. Allow tea to cool. Add ginger ale just before serving. Pour over ice and cool off!
