Lemony Fruit Dip

I can remember when my family all lived in close proximity up north, summer holiday BBQ’s never went without a big watermelon carved into a basket and then filled with fresh fruit. I used to love to go to my sister’s as I can remember she used to spike hers with a little vodka and that always made the fireworks seem even better on the Fourth of July! Of course, she never told my mom that the fruit was laced and I never tattled on her, knowing we’d both end up in the hoosegow! But that was many years ago and all of us live in different parts of the country and families just don’t seem to get together like they used to. But this recipe today would have been a perfect companion for that watermelon basket of so many years ago or if you have one of those Pop Chef gadgets out today to make a fruit centerpiece, this would also be a good dip for all those pretty pieces of that cut-out fruit. This recipe can also be made with orange zest and juice instead of the lemon, either way is great!

Kahlua Fruit Dip

Kenny and I like to have fruit platters for a change of pace sometimes and this is an excellent dip for just about any kind of fruit. Forget the chocolate covered cherries, try dipping fresh cherries into this instead. Also great for dipping fresh orange, apple or pear slices, grapes and berries. And if you really love marshmallows, have some on hand for dipping them too! This recipe is for those who have a sweet tooth. Did anyone make some of our homemade Kahlua this year in time for the holidays? If you did, you can use your own homemade stash for this tasty dip. Our Kahlua is in the frig and ready to be consumed (already been dipped into and shared with family) and that makes me think of having a White Russian, but just one as the vodka for me is on my husband’s no-no list as it tends to make me a little crazy. Well maybe just a little crazier than I already am, ha ha!

So tasty!
