Classic Egg Nog

I know Christmas is over, but New Year’s parties are still on the horizon! This is not a drink for sissies!!!

12 large eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 cups brandy
2 cups dark rum
2 cups bourbon
1 qt whole milk
1 qt heavy cream, whipped softly
Fresh grated nutmeg


Whip the eggs whites in a large bowl, until soft peaks form. Add 3/4 cup of the sugar gradually and beat until whites become stiff. In another bowl, whip the egg yolks until pale and creamy, add the rest of the sugar and continue to beat until the sugar begins to dissolve and the mixture thickens. In a large bowl, combine the yolk mixture with the liquors and milk and mix. Fold in the egg whites and cream. Pour into your favorite punch bowl and top with the nutmeg and you’re ready to Cheer!
