I’m back……………

Happy 4th to all our loyal followers! We are celebrating with some family members this afternoon and of course cooking on the grill!
Our kitchen counter-tops are finally finished and next week Husband will be doing up an article along with pictures. It came out so, so very beautiful that it looks like a professional job; I’m just so proud of him and the patience he had in doing it……

 

We’re going to do a couple of different things today and one of them is a pasta salad that I will be sharing with you next week also. Corn on the grill is a no-brainer and deviled eggs is always on the menu when it comes to a BBQ. Drunken Chicken with Mexican Rub will accompany the side dishes along with some Country Corn Bread! Watermelon is on ice and strawberry short cake awaits us in the frig!

However some of our other favorites are homemade Cole Slaw, our homemade BBQ Sauce and homemade Sangria. bbqsaucejustaddsign

Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday and with my kitchen finally done, I hope to be cooking up lots more dishes in the weeks to come………..Happy 4th everyone!

P.S. I’m not sure what’s going on today, but we lost power this morning and now it’s pouring down rain, what next???????

Just wanted to get a quick message out today to remind everyone of what a special weekend this truly is! It’s not just about the BBQ but time to thank all of those who have served and are serving our country so that we can enjoy the freedom we have today!

So on that note, just thought I’d remind you of a couple of recipes from the cooking- with-mama archives that might spark your interest for this wonderful weekend of cooking on the grill. For us, we’re having some fresh shrimp on the barbie along with some wonderful grilled steaks. For that steak we are going to use Magic Dust to make them mouth watering. For ribs lets go with the Mexican Rubbed Back Rib recipe or even the Louisiana Meat Rub if adventurous and want some real HEAT! For a tasty BBQ Sauce, a recipe given to me years ago and as close to Bull’s Eye as it can get………..
If you want to marinade we have the Corona Beer Marinade which is excellent or the Yuengling Lager Beer Marinade if you want to stay with an American beer!
Then for some sides we have Confederate Slaw which might be appropriate for the holiday and of course the Perfect Cole Slaw  I have been making this for everyone, they always ask for if they’re coming over for a cook out as it’s almost identical to KFC’s and I’ve been making it for years, literally!
Onto dessert, do you even have to ask, WATERMELON, of course……………..
