Deep Fried Biscuits
Okay, let me start by telling you how happy I am today! With our last chicken getting killed by some critter here in the woods, I finally got my Christmas present today of 3 new laying hens. They are in their pen, fed and hopefully happy campers.
Tom, our rooster on the other hand is not so happy as we will not let him in the pen yet so they can become acclimated to their new home.
The guy we bought them from had so many different kinds of chickens it was hard to pick, but we ended up with two Jersey Giants who can get up to 12 pounds in weight and one Ameraucana hen who lays blue eggs! Yes, blue eggs; popular with Easter Eggers, no dye needed!!! I had seen these on the internet but never in true life form. We also bought a dozen eggs for a mere $2 from him as our new ladies might take a few days to start laying with their change of lifestyle. In the dozen eggs were some of the blue and tomorrow morning will be Kenny’s very special omelet made with fresh eggs, I can’t wait!!!!!!
Now onto these biscuits! Want something simple, easy and ever so good? Kenny scarfed these down last night with some fried minute steaks and gravy (none were left). A couple of weeks ago we went to one of our favorite restaurants and their special that day was Beer Cheese Sauce with Bread, had to try it…….. Their sauce left a lot to be desired, but the bread was almost awesome. I asked the waitress what the bread was and she said, ” Just canned biscuits, cut up and deep fried”. Now I was on a vendetta to do this at home as the biscuits that I said were almost awesome were not quite cooked enough for us, but I knew what to do! I will be doing these again with some of my own beer cheese recipe, and oh Lord, sprinkled with some garlic salt and dipped in homemade marinara sauce! Does it get any better than this? I don’t think so……………….
- Store bought refrigerated biscuits, depends on how many you want to make
- Oil for deep-frying
- Cut biscuits into 6 pieces each.
- Deep fry in 375 degree oil, flipping over as they cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels and dip into your favorite sauce.
- That's it simple and easy........
