Fried Shrimp Patties
Well with shopping finally finished for husband’s Christmas, I’m down to baking and a final trip to the grocery store on Monday to get some fresh cold cuts for our Christmas veggie and poo poo platter with the kids! It was nice that granddaughter didn’t want me to have to cook a big meal on Christmas so we could have more time for visiting; personally, I think she was just trying to get out of kitchen duties afterwards! Today is National Fried Shrimp Day and I thought I’d share this southern recipe with you instead of actual fried shrimp!
- 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and vein removed
- ¼ cup minced onions
- ½ teas seafood seasoning
- ¾ teas salt
- Oil for frying
- Process shrimp through a meat grinder or food processor until the consistency of hamburger meat.
- Combine the ground shrimp with the onions and seasonings and mix well. It is easiest to mix with your hands that have been moistened with water as the shrimp is very sticky; form into 4 patties.
- Heat a shallow amount of oil in a cast iron frying pan and fry patties until shrimp meat is pinkish and opaque.
We like to put these on toasted buns with some cocktail sauce, lettuce and tomatoes……………enjoy!
