Confederate Slaw

Another oldie from my Hillbilly Cookin recipe book and a recipe I never heard of before!

 

1 head of cabbage, shredded (no size specified)
1 red pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
3 tbsp sugar
1 teas salt
1 tbsp flour
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup sweet milk
1 cup vinegar
2 tbsp butter
1/2 teas celery seeds or salt

 

Keep veggies cold until you make the dressing. Combine the sugar, salt and flour in the top of a double boiler; add the eggs and milk. Slowly add the vinegar and cook until mixture thickens, add the butter and celery seed or salt. Let cool and pour over cabbage mixture. Sounds interesting………enjoy!

 

This is a video of a couple that love camping and cooking out. They went to a raid reenactment in Brooksville Florida and purchased the old cooking wares of that era. Watch as they cook up some good looking fiddles.
