Comet Rice Cooker
My Comet Rice Cooker stems from the 50’s-60’s era and although I did not have the original recipe for it, I found it easier than I thought through trial and error, much to husband’s dismay!
Fill bottom of cooker to the fill line with water, about 1-1/2 to 2 inches. Place 1 cup of converted rice in the top with 1 tablespoon of butter, salt to taste and 1-1/2 cups of water. Cover pot, turn on high to get the water boiling in the bottom part of cooker, reduce heat to keep water simmering and cook until rice has absorbed all the water in the top half of cooker, stirring occasionally while cooking.
The top part of the cooker has steam holes in the top of it and this is the reason for using less water in the rice pot as the rice also receives the steam from the bottom while it is cooking.
This cooker makes the best rice and not something I plan to part with!
