Cooking With Mama Philly Meat Loaf

As lovers of Philly sandwiches, husband went on the internet looking for a recipe for a meat loaf made with the same ingredients. His search came up not to our liking, so we decided to give a whirl on our own and here’s what we came up with…….

1-1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tbls steak sauce
1/2 teas hot sauce
1/3 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs, plain
1 teas salt
1/2 teas pepper
2-3 slices Provolone cheese

Mix all ingredients, save the cheese, in a large bowl and place in a greased bread pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1-1/2 hour; during the last 20 minutes of cook time, top with the cheese. Very easy and so tasty! The next day we like to slice off a big chunk and fry it for sandwiches topped with sauted onions and peppers on toasted Kaiser rolls. Kenny likes to add a little extra Frank’s hot sauce to his along with his mayo that he can’t seem to leave off a sandwich…………….hope you enjoy this as much as we do!!!!!!!!!!
