Chili Like Wendy’s
If you like Wendy’s chili, you got to try this one as I have been making it for years and everyone loves it!
2 lb learn burger
1 cup diced onion
1 small can chopped green chili peppers
½ cup chopped celery
* 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
2 teas cumin
3 tbsp chili pepper
1 ½ teas pepper
2 teas salt
2 cups water
1 can (29 oz) kidney beans, with liquid
1 can (29 oz) pinto beans, with liquid
In a skillet, cook burger meat until no longer pink, drain. In a large sauce pot, combine the remaining ingredients, except the beans, with the beef. Bring up to a boil, cover and reduce heat; let simmer for one hour. Add the beans and simmer for another 30 minutes. Kenny and I do not add the beans but instead have some elbow macaroni cooked up to add to the chili and of course some garlic bread for dunking and a cold beer! We also like to have some chopped sweet onion for the top and Kenny likes a little parmesan too! Enjoy…..
* Sometimes I won’t have fresh tomatoes so I just substitute with a can of whole peeled tomatoes and it works just about as good! I make large batches of this and freeze it for a quick lunch or dinner…..
