Soda Shop Onion Rings
If you’re old enough, you should remember going to the soda shop after school and playing the juke box and munching out on onion rings, French fries and burgers while hanging out with all your friends from school. Those were the days!
1 large onion
½ cup flour
½ teas baking powder
½ teas salt
½ cup milk
¼ cup plus 2 tbsp dry bread crumbs
Cut onion into ¼ inch slices and separate into rings. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, baking powder and salt and in another dish, whisk together the milk and egg until well blended. Place bread crumbs in another shallow dish. Coat onion with flour and then dip in the egg mixture and finally coat with bread crumbs. Have your deep-fryer set at 375 degrees and fry onion rings a few at a time for 30 seconds on each side or until they float to the top and are golden brown. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with seasoned salt! Brings back memories for sure………..
