Hassenpfeffer

This is a German dish of marinated rabbit and the pic is my husband’s idea of marinated bunny!

1 rabbit, cut into serving pieces
Vinegar & water
1 large onion, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
Cloves and bay leaf to taste
Vegetable oil
1 cup sour cream

 

Place rabbit in a large container and cover with equal parts of water and vinegar; add onions, salt, pepper, and spices. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 days, stirring occasionally. Remove meat from solution and brown in a large skillet in oil, turning often. Add some of the marinade to the pan and simmer until rabbit is tender, about 30 minutes. Just before serving, stir in the sour cream and enjoy!
