Meatball Calzones

I have had calzones but never tried making one, but this recipe sounds good!


3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
1 cup Parmesan cheese
3 teas Italian seasoning
2 lbs lean ground beef
3 loaves, 1 pound each, frozen bread dough, thawed
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg white, slightly beaten
Additional Italian spices
14 oz homemade or jarred spaghetti sauce


In a large bowl, combine the eggs, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning with the ground beef. Mix well and shape into 1-inch balls. Cook meatballs in a shallow baking pan in a 400 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or until no longer pink. Drain and reduce oven temperature. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of the dough into an 18×12 inch rectangle. Spoon one-third of the meatballs and cheese down the center of each. Fold dough over filling and press edges to seal firmly. Place seam side down on greased baking sheets, brush tops with egg white and sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Let stand for 15-30 minutes. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with spaghetti sauce and enjoy!
